Hey all, and welcome to another boost! I share my experiences of a couple of factors that contributed to my test anxiety and the techniques I used to overcome test anxiety. The pressure of meeting expectations to get the grades you need to get into OT and/or PT school may contribute to overstudying, burnout, and stress, which lead to having test anxiety. It is important to practice calming the mind and building self-confidence knowing that you put in the work to get the grade you want on an exam. Taking your time to read each question on an exam slow is crucial to find certain phrases or words that help you choose the best answer option!

Hey everyone, and welcome to another BOOST! To keep it simple, having and maintaining discipline is more important than motivation. Yes, motivation is crucial to establish for studying for exams and completing complex assignments, but discipline builds CONSISTENCY. Having discipline means you can focus on your daily/study routine without getting distracted. I had to develop and initiate a daily routine for me to maintain discipline in OT school. Three factors I mentioned in the video are exercise, sleep, and having a routine. Eating a good diet, practicing meditation (I mentioned this as an internal motivator), reading a book, and watching a funny TV show are other areas to limit stress and develop focus, nose to the grindstone mindset! Motivation is a good thing. I am a big fan of external motivation, but sometimes that external motivation may not be present when you need it. Therefore, it is important to establish discipline through CONSISTENCY, and that can be done by having an OPEN MINDSET to make adjustments to your schedule and making good decisions. LIMITING DISTRACTIONS will be the ultimate factor whether you can create consistency, which leads to have a discipline mentality to do well in OT and PT school.

Hey all, and welcome to another boost! The video discusses about what it takes to develop the leadership skills that OT and/or PT schools are looking at during the admissions process. What helped me the most was being vulnerable to making mistakes and learning from others while receiving critical feedback to further enhance my leadership skills. It is important to have an open mindset to be open to receiving critical feedback to improve your leadership traits. It is important to reach out to social support and get involved in career/leadership workshops to build self-confidence to work towards your leadership skill goals. It is okay to make mistakes, what is most important is that you learn from them to make yourself a better leader. Remember, have a PERFECTIONIST mindset IS YOUR ENEMY, and be open to overcoming CHALLENGES. The ability to build MOMENTUM on this topic is to continue to develop your skills and to not give up! Taking initiative, communication, and collaboration skills are the foundational skills OT and/or PT schools are looking for in a candidate for the program. You GOT THIS!
